Laparoscopic gastric wrap (laparoscopic greater curvature plication)

During the laparoscopic greater curvature plication, the stomach is not removed, but only one of its walls, so-called greater curvature is buried and stitches are inserted longitudinally, this results in reduction of volume of the stomach for food and the patient has the feeling of satiety sooner than before the procedure.

This surgery is performed in general anaesthesia with the use of laparoscopy at the operating room. This procedure does not last longer than two hours, the risk of complications is minimal, as there is no foreign implant left in the body and thus the stomach wall is not affected.

The weight loss is approximately 50% of excessive weight in the first year and up to 63% by the end of the second year.
